Developing Resilience Through a Sense of Purpose

Resilience is all about having the mental strength to deal with whatever pressures and challenges you are faced with. This power comes from being in control of your emotions and your responses to events; from this flows a confidence in yourself and your behaviour.

We all approach life according to an overarching moral framework which we develop based on those principles which matter most to us: foundations such as integrity, kindness and compassion. This context then overlays all of our behaviour and the values we subscribe to.

Resilience is very much grounded in the openness to adapt to changing realities as your values shift throughout your life, all while maintaining your core principles. Being able to adjust your behaviour and outlook to ensure your purpose is being driven by relevant and productive thinking demonstrates the agility required to thrive, personally and in work situations.

When was the last time you checked in on yourself and your values? Does your purpose align with your current ethos and does that in turn reflect the situation you find yourself in? Invest the time in yourself and you will develop greater resilience and agility within your life.
